In my elementary school days our teachers would often made us choose our pain, thus the kind of punishment to be given to us in case you answered a question wrongly. Some would go by “do you want a knock on the head or the cane?”. What you choose would eventually become your pain, yet at the end of the day being it a knock or the cane the recipient, being satisfied or not with the choice made still suffers and the teacherr still gets to discipline at a level that seems fit to him or her.
The word Discipline means the ability to control oneself or ones weakness, or is the ability to control yourself and to make yourself work hard or behave in a particular way without needing anyone else to tell you what to do.
Mostly at the beginning of a year we all set goals we would want to achieve by the end of the year, thus setting up goals which will require us to be committed, be ready to do whatever needs to be done in order to be able to achieve the set goal. The final thing we need is to be disciplined to get all those accomplished.
Discipline is the only bridge between Goals and Accomplishment. It is doing what needs to be done, even if you don’t want to do it, regardless of your emotional state. We can always have tangible excuses to why we can not get something done, but our excuses becomes our setbacks and finally failure.
Now sometimes life gets tough for each one of us at a point but that is meant to hinder us from achieving our goal. One of my personal goals for this blog is not to skip a post for a particiar week, no matter my state then as far being alive and conscious.
This may be sometime I own but it’s not there for my personal gains only, but also for the readers who visit my page each Sunday to know what I have for them. With me being conscious, no excuse can be tangible enough to be why I could not post, being it sickness, mourning, broken, happy or sad, tight schedule and what have you. I HAVE TO BE DISCIPLINED ENOUGH TO POST because to me, someone is waiting and it can not be postponed.
Everything we do does require discipline, including getting out of bed which can sometimes be the most difficult and without discipline on that we fail at everything. The Bible talks about time and specify that there is time for everything we do, the most important thing is to do the right thing at the right time. For one to be time conscious the person needs to be disciplined, a person who notes and sticks to his or her time schedules.
As sad it may be, a lot of us will end the year with no goal accomplished and probably push it forward to the following year as their resolution and the cycle continue because they see discipline as a painful practice. Mind you, the pain of self discipline will never be as Great as the pain of Self- REGRET.
You can not stick to your comfort zone if you have set goals to accomplish.
You can not keep postponing if you want to make a change.
You can not let the pain make you stop if you want to win.
You need to do the work others are not willing or ready to do, inorder to get the things others will not have and that is being disciplined.
When you learn to master the art of self-control you will have the power to control almost everything.
So Get Up! Do what requires to be done now.
“NOW”, not later nor tomorrow because Discipline requires acting in the now. Success requires great discipline and hard work.
Discipline is choosing between what you want NOW, and what you want MOST
