The Cross means many things to many people. Some have it displayed on their mantel, others wear it around their neck and so on.
The Cross is a great contradiction. A simple upright post with a transverse bar used crucifixion.
It’s popularly known as a symbol of death, but so much more. Death and life, hate and love, violence and peace, accusation and forgiveness, sin and purity, brokenness and wholeness, all is lost yet everything is gained, destruction and restoration, defeat and victory. Once the cruelest form of execution, yet now it is a symbol of abundant life, a chance to live again.
We get to experience the cross and celebrate it worldwide once a year, of which is termed as Easter.
This year we get to celebrate it in quiet a unique way. Outside our church premises, in our homes either alone or with family and no matter how you feel about it believe me, it is special.
The christian understanding of the cross (Easter), is recalling the
Crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the redeeming benefits of his Passion and death. The cross is thus a sign both of Christ himself and of the faith of Christians.
Faith that Christ indeed is the son of God, the Messiah, and the saviour of mankind. Therefore whoever shall look up to his cross in times of need, believing in him shall be saved (live).
At the moment where all what the world longs for is saving. At a time where no amount of wealth, knowledge, or personality can save a person and all are left broken, helpless, looking up only to the mercy of the creator to live.
Easter being the death and resurrection of the saviour, is to every christian, the best and most precious gift from God. Since it reminds every christian how worthy the cross is, a symbol of God’s forgiveness and redemption to all mankind.
Those who do not share the christian faith will wonder what is so special about this day but that’s okay, because they have no idea as to what would have become of you today if Christ had failed to rise up from the grave.
With the story of the alabaster box, Mary for sure said in her heart to those around;
“Don’t be angry if I wash his feet with my tears and dry them with my hair, you were never there the night he found me, you did not feel what I felt when he wrapped his loving arms around me”.
In the same manner if do not share the christian faith, you will for sure not understand why this season means so much to every christian.
I tell you today, you don’t need to see him first,
You don’t need any religious person to lay a hand on you,
You don’t need to be somewhere special before you can also be saved. You only have to Believe.
No matter what you’re experiencing now,
It doesn’t matter how sick or broken you are,
Or how much people keep telling you that it’s too late.
There is light at the end of each tunnel, likewise there is a new life awaiting any dead situation in your life.
So look up to the cross
Look to Jesus and Live.
